Mandarin

The name refers to the mandarin-orange colour of these exclusive gemstones. The first sites of discovery about 25 years ago were in the north of Namibia (Kunene riverbed), at that time this garnet was still traded under the name "Hollandin". Mandarin garnets from 5 ct. upwards in best quality are extremely rare and are hardly available as appealing specimens on the international trade markets.
